November–April is Madagascar's warmer, wetter season. Expect heavy afternoon rains (and occasional cyclones along the coast), lush green landscapes and higher humidity; rural tracks can become muddy and harder to navigate.

April–June brings milder weather and drying ground—good time for clearer hiking conditions, still-green scenery and fewer insects than peak summer.

June–August is cooler and drier in the highlands with chilly nights (sometimes down to single digits °C); daytime is pleasant for walking but bring warm layers.

September–October warms up with blossoming vegetation and generally good travel conditions before the main rains return; a nice balance of comfortable temperatures and green scenery.
